OK, first let me apologize for not posting anything for the last month or more. July is a very busy month for us and we were also on vacation. I hope to get back to posting at least once a week.
Here is the problem. I planted a garden which is doing fairly well. But the radishes are a complete failure. The grew tall and sturdy, but the root ( the food part) is just a long white root. Could anyone tell me what I've done wrong?
P.S. They have been in the ground since early May. And according to the package they were supposed to look like this picture.

hmmm...I'm not the gardening expert, my wife is, I'll ask her next time I talk to her. She would know. You might also ask Kymber or MMPaints they also do a lot of gardening
PH...hmmm....it could be a few different things going on although I suggest you contact MMpaints as she is the APN Gardening Guru!
First off - you might have gotten a bad bag of seeds...nothing can be done if you got crappy seeds.
Next - have you been getting alot of rain and little sun? That sometimes results in less than desirable radishes...
Next - was your soil packed really hard where you planted them? i have found that i get better radishes when i have really loosened the soil before planting them.
And last - did you plant them too close together? The first time i tried to grow radishes, i planted them way tooooo close together and all i got was roots - teehee - i learned from that mistake!
Write back with your answers and let's see if we can try to figure out what went wrong.
dittos.... my radishes this year ended up like "spaghetti " ! i just pulled them all out and will plant something else in their place for the balance of the year.... sjm
Long and white, they are Icicle radishes. They are edible as long as you didn't leave them in the ground too long. The problem is not yours, it was the seed company. They placed the wrong picture or the wrong seeds into your packet. Eat them like you would any other radish.
Thanks for all the comments. Kymber, I think it was either bad seeds or too much rain and not enough sun. We've had a very wet year. However, I did plant them too close together. Live and learn. Thanks everyone.
